Summer At Home

How we’re staying cool this season

In these uncertain times the one thing that’s guaranteed is a summer at home. We know this season is going to fly past with us in lockdown. But Indian Summer is infamous for a reason and we’re still prepared to, figuratively, overheat and spontaneously combust ‘cuz of it.  So now we’re blessed with a little extra time on our hands, we’re going to use it to do a thing or two to stay cool this summer.

SUMMERTIME NO-BRAINERS:

Wear light coloured clothes because they reflect light and don’t retain the heat the sun so graciously gives us. Wear lightweight clothes. Fabrics like cotton and linen are summertime favourite because they allow your skin to breathe and stay cool.

INGREDIENTS WE’RE LIVING FOR:

Mint

Apart from the fact that mint gives you the feeling of refreshing and cooling effect and also works towards brightening up dull skin. It’s packed with strong antibacterial properties and contains salicylic acid – both of which effectively prevent acne.

Other benefits:

  • Treats Acne
  • Tones Skin
  • Good for oily scalp

Aloe Vera

Aloe Vera contains cooling and medicinal properties. It helps keep your skin hydrated without making you feel sticky. The sweltering heat causes you to sweat which uses up most of the water in your body, and can make your skin look dull and dry. Aloe vera is sometimes described as the wonder plant. Each leaf is full of a slimy tissue that stores water, which makes the leaves thick. This slimy, water-filled tissue is the "gel" we associate with Aloe vera products.

Other benefits:

  • Contains powerful antioxidants and when rubbed on the skin, accelerates healing
  • Slows down aging of skin
  • Visibly improves the skin’s texture and elasticity

Other uses: If you own the plant, you can use the gel you find in the leaves directly on your skin or mix it with coconut oil for your hair, or your moisturizer for your face and lotion for your body.

Summer At Home Tips:

Since stepping out is restricted we know a lot of us are sitting out in our balconies, gardens, yards and porches. When and if you do, do not forget to use SPF. The sun can damage your skin, even if you’re at home.

Face Serum

Since the heat is increasing and sweating is still not cute, we’re all sitting in air conditioned rooms all day. This can cause your skin to feel dry and dehydrated. So you may need an extra hit of hydration at this time. Our Vitamin C Face Serum is exactly what you need, and you can rub a little on your lips too!

OTHER WAYS TO STAY COOL:

  • Use a mint lip balm
  • Ice water foot bath
  • Eat cooling foods like cucumber, melons, yogurt etc
  • Drink buttermilk
  • Use a facial mist or wipes for a quick fix
  • Freeze spoons overnight and use under your eyes. It will reduce puffiness and leave a cooling effect on your face.
